The US Dept of Conservation awarded grants in 2014 and 2015 to create wildlife habitats. Loggers removed all cedar trees from 94 acres, with 54 acres that were additionally thinned of trees that do not produce food and shelter. Professional forest fighters completed controlled burns.
Owners have enjoyed limited hunting as it only takes one trip to the back acreage on opening day to fill the freezer. Heritage Ranch has never been offered to the public for hunt.
Turkey, quail, dove, deer, and even frog legs are plentiful!
